Veterinary Assistant – Murray

Full-time Veterinary Assistant needed for busy high-volume spay/neuter and walk-in vaccination clinic. 

Six months to 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital is desired.

PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING WORK SCHEDULE BEFORE APPLYING: Work hours vary. Our normal business hours are 7:15 AM to 6:15 P.M. Monday – Saturday. Availability to work any of these hours Monday – Saturday *is required*. No evening or Sunday hours.

A salary differential allowance of $.50 per hour may be paid to bilingual incumbents fluent in Spanish.

Starting wage is $15.40/hr.  

Required Skills

While performing the duties of this job, veterinary assistants are regularly required to lift 50 – 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday and must be able to safely and properly restrain large and/or fractious animals. Technicians are regularly required to kneel, bend, twist, stand and walk for very long periods, and converse with clients to explain procedures and vaccine requirements. The technicians are regularly required to perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. The veterinary technician is regularly required to talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.

Responsibilities

(Not all Inclusive) Prepare surgery packs, blood draws, insert microchips, prepare and administer vaccinations, assist with owner-requested euthanasia. Prepare pets for surgery, surgery recovery, and monitoring, release pets to their owners, provide exceptional client service, communication, and education, keep all clinic work areas neat and clean.

Must be able to understand and strictly follow all verbal and written directions from Staff Veterinarians and the Clinic Director.
