Mask Mandate Continues

The Utah Humane Society will maintain its current COVID-19 safety practices, including the mandatory wearing of masks.

As COVID-19 restrictions begin to relax and the statewide mask mandate was lifted on April 10, 2021, we want to reiterate our approach to keeping our staff, volunteers, guests, and our animals safe.

We want to protect our staff. Our frontline workers come face-to-face with community members every day. We want them to feel comfortable and safe at work.

Items That Are Toxic to Pets

Each year, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) compiles its data from the calls they receive about pets exposed to toxins and releases the Top 10 categories of potential poisons. APCC is available to support veterinarians treating pets for suspected poisonings and can be reached on their 24-hour hotline (888) 426-4435.

Be sure to keep these items out of your pets' reach.

Positive Reinforcement Training

With so many training options available, it can be hard to figure out which is the best method for you and your pet. The animal training industry remains unregulated, leading to a variety of opinions about what methods are the “right” methods.  In alignment with our mission to “eliminate pain, fear, and suffering in all animals,” the Humane Society of Utah chooses to use evidence-based force free training.
