COVID-19 UPDATE: Aug. 8
As we navigate through the challenges of this COVID-19 pandemic, the Utah Humane Society reinforces our ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our clients and their pets, our employees, volunteers, and our community.
Euthanasia services are available by appointment unless it is an emergency situation.
Clinic: If you'd like to be with your pet during this service, contact our Clinic for an appointment. To maintain social distancing, only one pet owner can be in the room with their pet as this service is provided.
Admissions: If an appointment is made through our Admissions Department, owners are not able to be present during the service. Rest assured that our highly-trained and compassionate Animal Care Team will offer your pet the most humane service possible.
We only euthanize by the injection of sodium pentobarbital (EBI).

The Humane Society of Utah provides end-of-life euthanasia services at a reduced price for pet owners.
We understand that the decision to euthanize a beloved pet is a difficult one. Our highly-trained and caring staff will review your situation and have an honest conversation about your pet's quality of life.
- Guardians releasing an animal for euthanasia will need to provide personal identification, proof of ownership, and supporting information of the medical or behavioral condition.
- We reserve the right to refuse euthanasia service if guardianship or a medical/behavioral condition cannot be confirmed. We will NOT euthanize any healthy or treatable pet.
- We cannot euthanize a pet if it has bitten someone within the last 10 days. If your pet has bitten a person breaking the skin within the last 10 days, by law, you must notify your local animal control services. If you are returning a pet that has been adopted through the Humane Society of Utah within the past 30 days, we can accept the animal.
Please select whether you'd like to make an appointment through our Admissions Department or Clinic.
