Here at the Humane Society of Utah Spay/Neuter Clinic, your pet’s well-being is our priority. We want to provide the most caring and efficient service possible and, if you follow these few tips, it will help us make your visit to our clinic a safe and stress-free experience:

If you have never been to our clinic before, it is helpful if you bring records of any vaccinations given to your pet at another facility, so we don’t perform any services that your pet doesn’t need.

  • For your protection and the protection of your pet, our staff, and other pets in our lobby all cats must be in a covered box or carrier and all dogs, including puppies, must be on a leash. We are not able to provide services for your pet if this important safety requirement isn’t followed. If you do not have a leash or a carrier, we have them for purchase. Leashes are $1.50. Cat Carriers are $7.50.
  • Please keep your dog close to you and under control at all times. If you use a retractable leash, please keep it locked at the shortest length. Do not allow your dog to approach other dogs or cats in carriers. This will help reduce stress for the pet and prevent scuffles and injuries to both pets and parents.
  • Please do not take your cat out of his/her carrier while you are waiting.
  • Please bring only your pets that require service into our clinic lobby during your visit. This is especially helpful on Saturdays because the high demand for vaccinations makes for a crowded area.
  • You can fill out the vaccination authorization form before you visit if you prefer:

FAQs

Do you offer services/treatment for sick or injured pets?
We are not a full-service veterinary hospital and are unable to provide treatment for sick or injured pets in the community. Please contact a local full-service veterinary hospital for these services. There are many emergency/after-hours full-service clinics along the Wasatch Front.  We only offer vaccination and spay/neuter services to the public.

When is the best (least busy) time to come to your walk-in vaccination clinic? How long will I have to wait to be seen?
It’s difficult to predict how busy we will be at any given time. However, Saturday is our busiest day and your wait time could be 15 – 45 minutes. On weekdays, your wait can be 10 – 20 minutes. The busiest time on a weekday is usually when we open our doors after lunch at 1 p.m. Regardless of when you visit the clinic, our friendly and efficient staff will help you as quickly as possible!

Do you provide other services during your walk-in vaccination hours?
We offer Home Again Microchip implants, heartworm testing, preventive heartworm medication (dispensed ONLY with proof of a negative heartworm test), and deworming. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before closing time if you wish to have any of these services performed.

How old does my pet need to be before they can be spayed/neutered?
Your pet must be at least 4 months old to be sterilized.

Can I license my pet at the Humane Society of Utah?
No. While we can provide the rabies vaccination required for you to license your pet, we do not do the actual licensing. We are not affiliated with any animal control agencies and cannot access their records.

Licensing can be done through your local animal control services in the city/county where you live. You can visit https://slco.org/animal-services/licensing/ for more information on where to license your pet.

Can you euthanize my sick, old, or injured pet?
Yes, we do offer pet euthanasia.  Click HERE to read more about end-of-life euthanasia services. We cannot euthanize a pet if it has bitten someone within the last 10 days. If your pet has bitten a person breaking the skin and drawing blood within the last 10 days, by law, you must notify your local animal control services.

I have more questions. What is the best way to contact you?
You can reach us by phone at (801) 261-2919 ext. 230 Monday-Friday 9-11:45 am, 1-5:45 pm and Saturday 9:00-11:45 am, 1-3:45 pm. Because of the high demand for our services, there are certain days and times we may not be able to answer the phone. Please leave a message. We check our voicemail regularly throughout the day and will return your call usually within an hour the same day during our regular business hours.
