Private Pet Rehoming
Private Pet Rehoming
We offer a Private Pet Rehoming Service for owners looking to rehome their pets without the pet entering the shelter system.
As a responsible pet owner, you can rehome your pet yourself and save them the stress of entering an animal shelter.
You know your pet better than anyone and you can find a new loving home for your pet with the resources on this page. We encourage you to look into alternative solutions to keep your pet first. We offer this service as a courtesy to use rather than surrendering your pet through our Admissions Department, if your pet is medically and behaviorally healthy, spayed/neutered, and doesn’t need sheltering services.
Private Rehoming Process:
- Complete the Private Pet Rehoming Application and provide information about your pet for potential adopters to view through our website.
- You will decide who will provide the best new home for your pet. Potential adopters will contact you directly. Read “How to Rehome Your Pet” at the bottom of this page.
Success! You have kept your pet out of the shelter while finding a home suited for their needs!
By filling out this form, I understand and agree to the following terms:
- I am adding my pet to the Pet Rehoming Service through Utahhumane.org. To surrender your pet to The Humane Society of Utah, contact the Admissions Department.
- My pet is spayed/neutered. All dogs, cats, and rabbits must be spayed or neutered before posting. Please contact our Clinic if you need to spay or neuter your pet.
- No fees may be charged – we do not allow any animals to be sold through our Pet Rehoming Service.
- My contact information will be listed in this posting, including email address and phone number. Some of the questions on the application are for internal use only and will not be posted publicly on the pet’s profile listing.
- All pet profiles will be reviewed by Utah Humane before posting publicly. We will contact you if we have any questions or concerns. Otherwise, your listing will be approved and posted within 3 business days.
- Your post will remain on our site for 30 days before it is automatically removed. Contact the Pet Resources Department to remove the listing at any time.
- I agree to hold The Humane Society of Utah harmless for any legal or financial liability arising from potential behavioral or medical issues with the listed animal.
The Humane Society of Utah makes no guarantees on and takes no responsibility for the temperament, health, or suitability of the animal rehomed through this courtesy service.
